忆及卡特，美国弗吉尼亚大学名誉教授雷朴实(Bruce Reynolds)在接受中新网采访时表示，卡特为人正直、聪颖，他训练有素，且做事尽心尽力，是一个以事实和分析做判断的人。
雷朴实指出，卡特一生都在倡导和平，始终坚信应该做正确的事，他的勇气有助于推动中美两国建交。卡特坚信，这些举措是正义之举。(薛凌桥)
Jimmy Carter, who served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981, died on Dec. 29, 2024, at the age of 100. Among Carter's many diplomatic achievements during his presidency, perhaps the most notable was promoting the establishment of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and China.
Recalling former U.S. president Jimmy Carter, Bruce Reynolds, a professor emeritus from the University of Virginia (UVA), told China News Network that Carter is a man of morality, intelligence. He is well-trained with committed attitude throughout his career. Besides, he is a man believed in facts and analysis.
Reynolds further pointed out that Carter is committed to making peace all his life and he is persisted in doing right things. He added that it is Carter’s courage that makes the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the U.S. and China possible, In the eyes of Carter making peace represents doing right things . 值得一提的是，中美欧三大全球性力量最近在全球人工智能治理问题上作出了各自的努力。10月18日，习近平主席在第三届“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛开幕式主旨演讲中宣布中方提出《全球人工智能治理倡议》，围绕人工智能发展、安全、治理三方面系统阐述了人工智能治理中国方案。30日，美国总统拜登签署了一项关于人工智能的行政命令，被称为“有史以来政府为推进人工智能安全领域所采取的最重大行动”。此前，白宫首席科学顾问还称赞英国邀请中国参加人工智能峰会是“了不起的主意”。而欧盟酝酿数年之久的《人工智能法案》也进入了最后谈判阶段。
习近平指出，追忆往昔，中美两国人民在抗击日本法西斯的斗争中同仇敌忾，经受了血与火的考验，结下了深厚友谊。展望未来，中美作为两个大国，对世界的和平、稳定与发展负有更加重要的责任，应该也必须实现相互尊重、和平共处、合作共赢。
